West Lake Hills Mayor Dave Claunch will resign at Dec. 9 meeting.

West Lake Hills City Council unanimously voted Nov. 23 to appoint Council Member Linda Anthony to replace Mayor Dave Claunch who announced Nov. 11 that he planned to resign by Christmas.

Anthony will be sworn in Dec. 9 to complete Claunch's mayoral term which ends in May.

"I am extremely flattered and honored," said Anthony who has held Place 1 on the City Council for the past two terms. When she takes the oath of office, Anthony will be the second female mayor of West Lake Hills.

Anthony, who has lived in Westlake since 1986, said she hopes to work with the community smoothly as the city continues to grow and undertake various projects.

"She's really proven herself to be a respectful, professional leader," Claunch said of Anthony. "I think it's fantastic we are going to have our second female mayor."
