The Big Cheese at Martinis and More might seem like a traditional martini at first. But on second glance, it is distinct in its homemade touch.

Martinis and More owner Ervin West selects olives and blue cheese at a local market, and he uses piping to stuff each olive by hand with blue cheese for the martini’s garnish.

“I invented [The Big Cheese] because I like blue cheese olives, and every time I bought a batch of blue cheese olives, it wasn’t consistent,” West said. “So I took it on myself.”

The Big Cheese is made with Grey Goose vodka, shaken with a dash of Martini and Rossi vermouth and topped with large stuffed olives.

West said guests ask for the drink just for the stuffed olives. There are times people ask just for the olives themselves.

“I think that’s what makes the martini popular is the blue cheese olives,” he said. “That’s why we call it The Big Cheese.”
