Latin-inspired fast food restaurants are making their way to Kyle.

Pollo Tropical will bring a Caribbean flair to the dining options in the city. Pollo Tropical—which will be located at 20471 I-35, Kyle—will be on the northeast corner of the northbound I-35 frontage road and Kyle Parkway.
The 3,400-square-foot Pollo Tropical will open in summer 2016. Its menu will feature Carribbean-inspired chicken on a grill; yuca, boiled or fried; and plantains. Customers will be able to dine in or order food via a drive-thru.
The Fiesta Restaurant Group, which owns the Pollo Tropical brand, also owns and operates Taco Cabana franchises in the United States. The group is applying for a permit exceed the maximum number of parking spaces at a potential site for a future Taco Cabana, 20445 I-35, Kyle.
A representative for the company said a Kyle location has not been finalized.
"We are exploring opportunities in Kyle," said Todd Coerver, chief operating officer. "We do not have a specific site confirmed at this time."
Taco Cabana’s menu features Mexican food such as fajitas, tacos, enchiladas and burritos. A 575-square-foot patio will provide outdoor seating for patrons. A targeted opening date was not available Oct. 28.
COMING SOON—The Oaks of Kyle, 200 Goforth Road, Kyle, are under construction. Rent at the luxury apartments will be market-rate, said Charles Teeple of Teeple Partners, the firm developing the apartments. The complex will comprise 204 units between 629 and 1,360 square feet. A variety of floor plans range from one to three bedrooms. In the spring the leasing office is expected to be open, Teeple said.
