1. Crighton Road expansion
On schedule[/caption]The city of Conroe has completed work on the first of two phases for the Crighton Road expansion project. 2. FM 1097 overlay
Significant progress has been made on a 2-inch overlay on FM 1097 from I-45 to FM 149. Smith and Company crews will continue to work on the project through the end of the year. Timeline: May-fourth quarter 2015 Cost: $4.1 million Funding sources: Texas Department of Transportation
3. FM 3083 railroad overpass
The expansion of FM 3083 continues with construction of a railroad overpass along the roadway. FM 3083 has already been widened between I-45 and the starting location of the overpass bridge. The project will continue to widen the road from the start of the bridge to Stewart’s Creek. Once complete, the road will have two lanes in each direction as well as a continuous left-turn lane. Crews are waiting for authorization to begin construction, which will take about two years from the project start date. Timeline: TBD Cost: $13.1 million Funding sources: TxDOT
4. Park and ride
The city of Conroe partnered with TxDOT to develop a park and ride facility under I-45 near the FM 2854 intersection. The facility will provide transportation to commuters from Conroe to downtown Houston and the Texas Medical Center. The facility and its operation are being modeled after the park and ride lot in The Woodlands. Timeline: May 2016-TBD Cost: $1 million Funding sources: TxDOT, city of Conroe
5. MP Clark Road extension
The city of Conroe is extending MP Clark Road from its existing end point north of League Line Road to FM 830. The city partnered with Willis ISD for the 1.7-mile extension project because the district plans to build a new elementary school near the intersection. 6. Drennan Road extension
Project update[/caption]A Drennan Road mobility project will extend the roadway from its terminus at Plantation Drive to Hwy. 75. The roadway will continue the existing five-lane roadway to provide greater access to and from the future Conroe Police Department headquarters, which is under construction at 2300 Plantation Drive. 7. Longmire Road expansion
An expansion of Longmire Road from FM 3083 to League Line Road is in the design stage. The project will widen the road from two to four lanes and includes the addition of designated turn lanes at intersections throughout the expansion.
