1. Y at Oak Hill continuous-flow intersections

Texas Department of Transportation completed continuous-flow intersections on Hwy. 290 between Hwy. 71 and Joe Tanner Lane in September. TxDOT reopened the intersection at Hwy. 290 and Hwy. 71 in May. Workers were moving a water line under the intersection at Hwy. 290 and William Cannon Drive before it opened Sept. 9.

2. ‘Don’t Block the Box’ new sign location

A “Don’t Block the Box” sign will be installed at the RR 2222 and River Place Boulevard intersection by Oct. 31. The Don’t Block the Box campaign aims to reduce traffic congestion on Austin’s major arterial roadways and downtown.Blocking the box means that a vehicle has entered an intersection without enough room on the other side of the intersection to clear it. Blocking the box is illegal, according to Austin officials.

3. Loop 360 turn lanes

Additional turn lanes will be added along Loop 360 between Courtyard Drive and Westbank Drive. A left-turn-only lane, an optional left-turn/straight lane and a right-turn-only lane will be added westbound at the Westbank intersection. A dedicated left-turn lane will be added on northbound Loop 360 at Las Cimas Parkway, and left-turn lane will be added at the northbound Loop 360 exit ramp at Bee Caves Road.

4. Loop 360 auxiliary lanes

TxDOT will add auxiliary lanes, or extended turn lanes, on Loop 360 to improve intersections with Walsh Tarlton Lane, the Barton Creek Square Mall entrance, MoPac and the intersection just south of MoPac. A left-turn lane will also be added on the northbound frontage road of MoPac at Loop 360.

Transportation Updates Flint Rock Road[/caption]

5. Flint Rock Road

Approximately 2 miles of the narrow two-lane road—between RR 620 at Lakeway Regional Medical Center and Serene Hills Drive—will be widened, and an asphalt shoulder will be added along with turn and grade changes. Construction will begin in October.

Timeline: October 2015-late 2016 Cost: $6.5 million construction; $9 million total Funding sources: city of Lakeway, Travis County

6. MoPac toll lanes

Upon completion the highway will have one new lane in each direction from Parmer Lane to Cesar Chavez Street that will be tolled. Current construction includes bridge widening, building sound walls, installing conduit and cables to support the toll-collection and intelligent transportation systems, and completing the relocation of temporary ramps. The timeline was delayed from a fall 2015 completion to late 2016.
