1. Downtown improvements


Downtown improvementsThis project will widen Mays Street from the railroad bridge south of downtown to the Brushy Creek bridge as well as realign Main Street where it intersects with Mays. The project will also focus on road improvements such as a new center left turn lane on Mays in downtown. Traffic on Round Rock Avenue is being routed to West Main Street via Brown Street and Liberty Avenue as of Sept. 4. Main Street now runs continuously through Mays.

Timeline: March 2015-March 2017
Cost: $13.2 million
Funding sources: city of Round Rock, federal grant funds

2. Howard Lane


This project will extend Howard Lane just outside of Pflugerville from Cameron Road to the SH 130 access road. It will also widen the two-lane portion of Harris Branch Parkway into a four-lane divided arterial to Gregg Lane. Crews are working on Harris Branch and the Howard Lane extension as of September.

Timeline: February 2014-November
Cost: $20 million
Funding sources: city of Austin, Travis County, TxDOT, private developer

3. Creek Bend Boulevard


The project will extend the existing four-lane divided roadway over Brushy Creek and Hairy Man Road to connect with Brightwater Boulevard at Wyoming Springs Drive. It will include raised medians, sidewalks and bicycle accommodations. Round Rock officials state the extension will provide a north/south connection over Brushy Creek and reduce reliance on I-35. Crews are working on underground utilities as of September.

4. Pfluger Farm Lane extension


The city of Pflugerville will extend the road from near its intersection with Pflugerville Parkway to just south of its Town Center Drive intersection next to the 24 Hour Fitness within the Stone Hill Town Center. Delivery of materials will occur Oct. 5 and 6 possibly resulting in some traffic delays.

5. Limmer Loop reconstruction


The city of Hutto will participate with Williamson County in the maintenance and reconstruction of Limmer Loop. This project will update and repair portions of the road from CR 110 to Hwy. 79 that have fallen into disrepair. The county has also offered to bid and manage the projects for the entire 5-mile stretch of Limmer. The city of Hutto will be responsible for funding projects on the 2-mile portion of Limmer that has been annexed into the city limits. Crews are working on the road as of September.

6. Carl Stern Boulevard


This project will extend Carl Stern Boulevard west of FM 685 and link it to SH 130. The road will be built by the developer of Carmel Creek, which is a mixed-use development through which the road will pass. Hutto will reimburse the developer for the cost of the road construction. The portion from FM 685 to Carmel Creek was completed in July. The remaining connection to the SH 130 feeder road is under construction.

7. I-35 ramp reversals


This project alters the locations of entrance and exit ramps on I-35 north of Hwy. 79 to better accommodate the flow of traffic. Crews are working on an auxiliary lane on the southbound access road to allow room for merging and expect to finish the project by November.
