The city of Sunset Valley plans to hold elections Nov. 3 for three places on its five-member City Council. Sunset Valley City Council members approved an ordinance calling for the election during a June 16 meeting. Current council members Forrest Arnold, Jeff Burdett and Rudi Rosengarten have terms that expire in November. Arnold is not seeking re-election. Resident Marc Bruner, who serves on the city’s Public Works Committee, is running for that council seat. Rosengarten, a Realtor, has served two full terms and was first elected in May 2011. She is seeking re-election in 2015. Burdett, who works for the Texas Cable Association, was first appointed to the City Council on June 15, 2012 because Rose Cardona was elected mayor and resigned her council seat, according to city staff. He was elected Nov. 5, 2013 in an uncontested election and is seeking re-election in 2015. All three candidates will run unopposed, according to the city. The deadline to file applications with the city secretary to run for council was Aug. 24. City Council members approved an ordinance calling for the election during council’s June 16 meeting.
