As the Nov. 3 election draws nearer, Travis County is hosting several open houses and presentations to inform voters about the upcoming $287.3 million bond election for a new civil and family courts complex, or CFCC, to be located in downtown Austin.
During the Travis County Commissioners Court’s Sept. 22 meeting, Belinda Powell, strategic planning manager for the Travis County planning and budget office, gave commissioners an update on public outreach for the CFCC bond proposal.
Powell said upcoming events related to the CFCC bond include:
• Sept. 22, 7-8 p.m., Workers Defense Project, 5604 Manor Road
• Sept. 23, 6-8 p.m., Jonestown Community Center, 18649 Hwy. 1431
• Sept. 24, 6-8 p.m., Travis County Exposition Center, 7311 Decker Lane
• Sept. 27, 4-6 p.m., Indian American Coalition of Texas, 7701 N. Lamar Blvd.
Additional events are listed on the county's calendar at

The county estimates if passed the bond would result in most homeowners seeing an annual property tax increase of $13.50 per $100,000 of valuation for a 20-year period.
“Our bond estimator is up on the Travis County webpage already for people who are looking to calculate their personal impact of the bond,” Powell said.
