Transportation Updates1. Yarrington Road bridge

The Texas Department of Transportation anticipates completion of the Yarrington Road bridge over I-35 by early 2016. Work on embankments along the I-35 frontage roads near the bridge is ongoing. Installation of storm sewer pipe was ongoing in mid-August. Traffic is anticipated to switch onto the new portion of the bridge by October.

2. North LBJ Drive reconstruction


As of Sept. 9, work on North LBJ Drive from Chestnut Street to Holland Drive, was nearly complete. The road includes bike lanes on the northboud side of the road, sidewalks and one vehicle lane in each direction, except for some areas, which also include a left-turn lane.


Timeline: 2014-September 2015
Cost: $7 million

3. FM 967 widening


As of Sept. 7, sidewalks, drainage culverts and curbs have been formed within the project area, and landscaping has been added throughout the span of the road from Cole Springs Road to FM 1626 in Buda. Remaining work includes paving and striping. FM 967 will include two lanes in each direction and a center turn lane.

4. Hwy. 123 and Wonder World Drive overpass


TxDOT is constructing an overpass on Hwy. 123 in San Marcos that will span Wonder World Drive. A signal will be built at the intersection as well as a bridge with two lanes in each direction and access roads with two lanes in each direction. TxDOT has been working on building the southbound access road and temporary traffic signals near the intersection.

5. Marketplace extension


The city of Kyle began work on extending Marketplace Avenue from its current endpoint at City Lights Drive to Burleson Street on Sept. 8. The extension will include three lanes.
