The owners and artisans of Red Door Lane said the art of a designing a unique piece of furniture comes naturally to them. Michelle Becker and Jessica Wright own the business, which has been operating in the Leander Flea Market for 14 months. Steve Newman and Becky Herrmann joined Red Door as artists and store employees after meeting Becker and Wright. The business sells vintage refurbished and restyled furniture as well as items handmade by the owners and artists. “I like taking something that doesn’t look extremely appealing and making it look really beautiful,” Becker said. Items in the store include a variety of styles such as farmhouse chic. “I like to work with reclaimed wood and making custom-built furniture,” Newman said. “In other words, funky, cool stuff.” Red Door artists said they take pride in the trust their customers give them when they are given the opportunity to restyle vintage pieces. “I think of it as breathing new life into old, forgotten pieces,” Wright said. “It’s an honor when someone asks us to restore something for them.”
