Mayor Thom Farrell presented a draft ordinance at the Sept. 2 special council meeting to increase the permit-only parking zone during special events like Austin City Limits.

Council members also discussed ways to improve traffic flow and the high demand for parking on city streets such as increasing the cost of parking permits, creating several zones for parking, or possibly banning all street parking.

A new ordinance to be drafted and proposed by the Sept. 16 meeting will include:

• A second permit-only parking zone to encompass all of Rollingwood outside the existing zone

• Two parking permits per residence plus two visitor permits

• Permanent permit stickers to allow the city to enforce parking permits during other special events at Zilker Park
