Local Realtors answer questions about trends and offer tips to homebuyers and sellers considering buying or selling a home in or around The Woodlands.
What would improve a house’s appeal to home buyers?
It is best to focus on curb appeal. [Inside], the kitchen and the bathroom are the best rooms to focus on because they have permanent fixtures, such as cabinets and faucets. Landscaping is also important.
What are some things that could be done to the entryway of the house to give a better first impression?
Depending on the size of the foyer, a foyer table with a table lamp, greenery, and decorative picture or decorative mirror on wall above provides a nice welcoming entry. Outside of the front door, potted topiaries or potted flowers on each side of the door add color, interest and [a] welcoming entrance.
What landscaping tips do you have for sellers?
It is good to have the shrubs and hedges shaped, have black mulch in the flowerbeds and, depending on the time of year, have flowers. You want buyers to be excited when they first walk in, and first impressions are everything.
What advice would you give to people who are selling their house in a competitive market?
Show what features and benefits you have. Stage your house as if it is occupied, have proper furniture placement, the right pieces of decor and declutter. This is all very important.
