The Texas Department of Transportation will host two open house meetings in early September to gather feedback on the proposed revised design to Hwy. 290 between Loop 610 and FM 2920.
The same information will be provided at each meeting, which will be held on the following days from 5:30-7:30 p.m.:
- Sept. 1 at the Berry Center, 8877 Barker Cypress Road, Cypress
- Sept. 3 at the Sheraton Brookhollow, 3000 N. Loop 610 West, Houston
The Texas Department of Transportation began work on the Hwy. 290 expansion project in 2011. The project originally called for building three reversible managed lanes that would have been operated by Harris County. However, both entities could not come to an agreement when designing the project which resulted in changes in the funding and operational agreements.
The plan now calls for one reversible HOV lane from Loop 610 to Mason Road and the addition of one general-purpose lane in each direction from Loop 610 to the Harris County line. There will be five general-purpose in each direction between Loop 610 and Hwy. 6, four general-purpose lanes in each direction from Hwy. 6 to the Grand Parkway, and three general-purpose lanes in each direction from the Grand Parkway to FM 2920.
Written comments will be accepted at the meeting and can be submitted in person at the TxDOT district office at 7600 Washington Avenue, Houston. They may also be mailed to the Director of Project Development, TxDOT Houston District, P.O. Box 1386, Houston, TX 77251. Comments can also be emailed to
[email protected].
Comments must be postmarked or emailed before Sept. 17. For more details, visit www.my290.com.
