The third building at the University of St. Augustine’s Austin campus is in the final stages of construction, and its opening is scheduled for September.

The two-story, 10,000-square-foot building will have an occupational and physical therapy clinic inside that will serve the public. The new facility will also be where students can sharpen their clinical skills, according to Campus Director Rebecca Estes.

The clinic will be on the first floor. The university is seeking local health companies that provide multiple health disciplines to operate the clinic. Students who work in the clinic will be under the watch of a licensed therapist when practicing, Estes said. Faculty may also use the clinic to practice with clients.

The first floor will also have a wellness center for students. The second floor will be leased out to other health professions, Estes said.

In the long term the university may take over the second floor if more programs are offered and the need for space increases, Estes said.
