Studio Movie Grill Plano, located at 4721 W. Park Blvd., closed July 27 for remodeling and will reopen in October. When complete, the theater will feature four additional screens, custom-built recliners, plush leather seating and a contemporary casual entry lounge and bar area.
Studio Movie Grill theaters allow guests to relax in style while watching first-run movies with full restaurant service, SMG spokesperson Lynne McQuaker said.
"The new look will also feature signature SMG design appointments ... and the interiors will be modern with a selective mix of textiles, stone surfaces, warm-woods and modern furniture classics," she said. "We can’t wait to open our doors to our Plano community that have been such wonderful supporters of our concept."
Guests can also visit the new SMG The Colony, located at 4800 State Hwy 121, during the renovations. The new theater opened July 30 and hosted its Cans Film Festival Food Drive Aug. 10-13, during which moviegoers who donated three or more canned goods or non-perishable food items received a free ticket to any movie that day. All donated items went to benefit Metro Relief, The Colony’s local food bank.
The fundraiser collected 5,225 pounds of food for Metro Relief, The Colony's local food bank, and was enough to fill the organization’s pantry for one month, according to representatives with Studio Movie Grill.
