Longtime Cy-Fair resident Debbie Blackshear is seeking election for a position on the Cy-Fair ISD board of trustees. “With my passion for kids and education, it felt natural that I should run,” Blackshear said. “It felt like something I was being led to do. It’s an opportunity for me to give back to my school district and community for all that my kids and grandkids have received from Cy-Fair ISD.” Blackshear moved to Cy-Fair 37 years ago from Houston so that she could send her two children to school in CFISD. Today, four of her grandchildren attend CFISD schools. Blackshear has served as a trustee on the Cy-Fair Educational Foundation board for 15 years and is also a director on the Cy-Hope board. She has been a member of four district bond committees and served as co-chair for the 2014 bond committee. “I have so much admiration for the people sitting on the board and administration, and I thought it would be a good opportunity to use my talents,” Blackshear said. “Education of the kids in our district is so important to me.” The position for which Blackshear filed is held by Kevin Hoffman, who said he will not file for re-election. Incumbents Tom Jackson, Darcy Mingoia and Christine Hartley are also up for re-election and have filed for another term. Trustees serve four-year terms on the CFISD board. The election will be held Nov. 3.
