Robert Schneider, a longtime member of the Austin ISD board of trustees and Southwest Austin resident, died July 28 in his home, according to an AISD news release. He was 62.

Schneider was the trustee for District 7 in Southwest Austin for 13 years. Voters re-elected him in 2014 to serve his fourth term on the board.

During his service to the district, Schneider was also the chair of the Board Intergovernmental Relations Committee and the Ad Hoc Committee for Policy and Process Review for Site-Based Decision making, AISD spokesperson Jacob Barrett said.

Two years ago, the AISD board of trustees elected Schneider to the board of directors for the Texas Association of School Boards, Barrett said.

Schneider is survived by his wife Kathleen and his four children, according to AISD.
