Parents looking for a fun way for their children to learn more about their community, may want to learn about McKinney Main Street and the City of McKinney's Downtown McKinney Kids Explorers Club.
Kits includes an official adventure guide with 15 self-directed activities such as learning a magic trick or having a picnic. Children who complete an activity can bring their proof—provided in the kit— to an Explorer Station in downtown to receive a special activity badge.
Kits are available following the Red, White and BOOM! parade at the East Louisiana Street Festival from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Kits will also be available at the McKinney Performing Arts Center, 111 N. Tennessee St.
“Downtown McKinney is filled with many kid-friendly activities and we are excited to encourage children to really explore our community,” said Amy Rosenthal, Director of MPAC and McKinney Main Street, in a news release. “The best part is the activities are easy things to do that you don’t necessarily need to spend money on.”
Downtown McKinney Explorers have until Aug. 8 to complete their activities. Explorers who earn all 15 badges are invited to a free celebration at MPAC on Saturday, Aug. 8 at 10:30 a.m.
