After three years of creating custom cakes from home Sara Mayes will open her first bakery in late August.
My Sweet Austin, 910 W. 25th St., will offer made-from-scratch cookies, brownies, cupcakes, baked donuts, scones, muffins, coffee cakes and danishes and will also serve coffee.
Mayes offers cakes in 16 flavors, but custom flavors can also be done on request. Cakes are finished with buttercream or fondant and may be delivered.
Mayes said she decided to open the business because she wanted to continue providing the same quality desserts but with a faster turn around time for customers. She has a degree in Baking and Pastry Arts and spent time honing her skills at Rosewood Sand Hill Hotel and Studio Cake in Menlo Park, California.
