Faculty and staff from St. Stephen’s Episcopal School, 6500 St. Stephen’s Drive, Austin, volunteered at various nonprofit organizations throughout the city of Austin on May 1 to complete needed projects.
More than 100 members of the school created raised garden beds, cleared brush and provided manpower for building projects at Community First Village, a community planned to provide housing and other essentials to chronically homeless citizens.
“Our day of service was a most rewarding one,” Head of School Bob Kirkpatrick said in a news release. “There’s no question of its value to the people we served, but our volunteer work had the additional benefit of uniting our school community in fellowship and collaborative effort, which made the day even more worthwhile.”
