The Kroger Marketplace under construction at 1712 Spring Green Blvd. will create 300 full- and part-time positions, said Keith Cook, district human resources coordinator for The Kroger Co. The company is starting to screen applicants through the jobs.kroger.com website, he said.

Construction on the 120,000-square-foot grocery store, located at the corner of FM 1463, began in fall 2014. The store anchors the new 282,000-square-foot Shops at Katy Reserve shopping center developed by New Quest Properties. Shops at Katy Reserve is adjacent to the Reserve at Katy, Woodcreek Reserve and Firethorne housing communities.

"We're scheduled to open the Kroger Marketplace [at Spring Green Blvd. and FM 1463] on Friday, August 7," said Kristal Howard, a public relations manager for The Kroger Co.

This is the sixth Kroger location to open in the Katy area.
