The man credited as the father of Austin City Limits died April 11 at the age of 80.
Bill Arhos served in various positions during his 40-year career at KLRU, such as executive producer of Austin City Limits from 1975-1999, according to a news release issued by the Austin-based PBS station.
"I've never met anyone like Bill Arhos," said Terry Lickona, ACL executive producer and longtime colleague, in a news release. "He was a real character, known and loved not just in Austin but throughout the PBS system. The idea for Austin City Limits was not just his alone, but he brought it to life, and he kept the show going and growing through some difficult times."
Arhos was honored for his vision, passion and dedication when he was inducted into the Austin City Limits Inaugural Hall of Fame last year, according to a news release.
He will be buried at Texas State Cemetery during a private ceremony. The family asks for donations to the Bill Arhos fund at KLRU instead of flowers, according to a news release.
