The Round Rock Chamber of Commerce announced March 5 a semiconductor company from Ithaca, New Yorkwill move their headquarters to Round Rock. Monolith Semiconductor Inc.is a supplier of high-voltage silicon carbide-based semiconductor switches used in electronics such asdata centersand electric vehicles, according to a chamber release. According to the release, the company sought to relocate their headquarters to Texas after partnering with X-FAB Texas in Lubbock to manufacture their silicon carbide-based semiconductor switches. "Round Rock was a natural choice because we can attract the right talent, grow our company, and raise our families in the same community," Monolith Semi CEO Sujit Banerjee said in the release. The number of jobs the company will bring with it or where in Round Rock the company will be located were not known at press time. UPDATE 3:22 p.m. Chamber President Mike Odom said no public incentives were used to secure the company's relocation. He said the relocation will bring 10 jobs with an average salary of $115,000 per year.
