Seattle-based pizza restaurant MOD Pizza will be opening six Austin-area locations by 2016, spokeswoman Charlotte Wayte said.
The restaurant offers pizzas with unlimited toppings for one set price.
The first of the eaterys local sites will open April 1 at Mueller, 1801 E. 51st St., in Austin, followed by the Village at Westlake restaurant that is set to open April 2 at 701 S. Capital of Texas Hwy., in West Lake Hills, she said. A third location will open May 4 in Plaza Volente, 11521 N. RR 620, in Austin, she said. A South Shore restaurant on Riverside Drive is planned for a late-August or early-September opening and will be a new construction building, she said.
Two additional locations are slated for the end of 2015 and 2016 but the sites have not been confirmed yet, Wayte said.
The company opened its first Texas restaurant in 2014 in Houston and plans to nearly triple in size, expanding from 31 stores nationally to 90 stores by the end of the year, she said.
Were growing and were growing faster, Wayte said. Austin and Houston were our targets early on. They are vibrant areas and markets where we could have more than one location. Theres lots of growth in the [Texas] suburbs.
She said each store is tailored to the community it serves, posting photos of local celebrities and events and customizing the decor to its neighborhood. On opening day, the restaurant donates all of its profits to a local charity chosen by the new sites manager, she said.
Founders Allie and Scott Svenson were high school sweethearts who gained business experience before starting their own coffee business that was later purchased by Starbucks, Wayte said.
With four boys of their own, the couple launched MOD, or pizza made on demand, after seeing first-hand the need for fast, fresh food tailored to individual customers needs, she said.
