The city of Austin is beginning the process of developing a neighborhood plan contact team—or teams—for the latest neighborhood plan to be approved.
On Nov. 6, Austin City Council approved the South Austin Combined Neighborhood Plan, a document outlining land-use options for the South Manchaca, Garrison Park and Westgate neighborhoods. City code requires contact teams to help implement the adopted plan.
The city will host a meeting Feb. 3 at 6:30 p.m. at Cunningham Elementary School to inform residents about neighborhood plan contact teams, which help guide the use of neighborhood plans.
South Austin Combined area residents will also provide feedback on whether they want to establish one contact team, said Francis Reilly, senior planner with the city's Planning and Development Review Department's Comprehensive Planning Division.
There is the option to create a single combined contact team for the entire planning area, or the community could decide to create a unique contact team for each of the three planning areas, he said.
The city and participants will work to develop bylaws at later meetings, he said.
