An 83-acre, mixed-use development is planned at the intersection of Kenney Fort Boulevard and Forest Creek Drive in Round Rock.
The land is currently undeveloped and owned by Tim Timmerman, an Austin-area real estate developer. City documents show the development will be called Kenney Crossing.
Timmerman said the property will have space for offices, local retail and a 250-unit apartment complex. He said he does not know what specific businesses will occupy the development.
City documents show 30 acres of public open space as part of the development. The open space will include the location of Kenney Fort, the first settlement in present-day Round Rock.
"There's lots of history on the property," Timmerman said. "We wanted to preserve the fort site even though there's not a specific building there at this point."
Timmerman said he has owned the property since the 1990s, and he felt the market was now right for development.
Timmerman said he plans to break ground in early 2015, and construction would last approximately 18 months.
