Redesigned site includes shelters, loading zone for buses

Capital Metro reopened the Oak Hill Park & Ride at the southeast corner of the William Cannon Drive and West Hwy. 290 intersection on Nov. 3, spokeswoman Melissa Ayala said.
The facility includes 100 parking spaces, motorcycle and bicycle parking, bus stop shelters, benches and a dedicated loading zone for buses, she said.
The site is a stop for two routes that connect Oak Hill to downtown: Route 171, called the Oak Hill Flyer, and Route 970, called the Lantana Express.
The facility was closed and briefly relocated to Austin Community College's Pinnacle campus while workers for the Texas Department of Transportation improved the intersection of West Hwy. 290 and William Cannon Drive.
"Overall, customers were pleased that the Oak Hill Park & Ride location has reopened," Ayala said. "A few customers prefer the ACC Pinnacle site due to their specific commuting route. However, overall customer response was [good], with the facility nearly full at the end of the morning rush hour."
