Incumbent Republican Rick Miller was elected Nov. 4 to his second term as representative for Texas House District 26.
According to unofficial results, Miller garnered 70 percent of the vote while his Democratic opponent Amber Paaso received 30 percent. With all 41 precincts reporting, a total of 36,525 votes were cast with Miller receiving 25,451 votes and Paaso receiving 11,074 votes.
Texas House representatives serve two-year terms with no term limits.

Incumbent Republican Rick Miller has the lead in the race for Texas Representative District 26 after early returns with 72 percent of the vote and 21,465 votes counted.
Miller holds the edge over democratic opponent Amber Paaso, who has garnered 28 percent of the vote. After early returns, Miller has 15,384 votes to Paaso's 6,081 votes, with no precincts reporting.
Miller is a graduate from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, and has served in various positions in both the military and public sectors. He is the founder and president of Trevanion Group, a leadership development company based in Sugar Land. He is seeking re-election to his second term in the Texas House of Representatives.
Paaso holds a bachelor's degree in political science from Weber State University and a master's degree in women's studies from Florida Atlantic University. For the past seven years, Paaso has worked as an advocate for women's issues and social equality in her role as outreach and volunteer coordinator for the Fort Bend County Women's Center. This is Paaso's first run for elected office.
