Republican Jeff Leach won the State Representative District 67 seat over Libertarian opponent Patrick Peavy, receiving 78.52 percent of the votes of the Nov. 4 election with 67 of 67 vote centers reporting.

Leach received 25,223 votes to Peavy's 6,899 votes.

According to early voting results, incumbent State Rep. Jeff Leach is leading the race for the District 67 seat with 80.10 percent of the vote, or 15,828 votes. Challenger Patrick Peavy has 19.90 percent of the vote, or 3,933 votes.

In Leach's first term, he worked to promote pro-family, Texas values and passed legislation to limit the expansion of Medicaid, according to his website He also co-authored House Bill 2, which is a pro-life bill, and House Bill 5 that reformed the state's public education system.

Patrick Peavy is a member of the Libertarian Party of Texas and is a representative for the party in the Texas senatorial district 8.

District 67 is located solely in Collin County and represents portions of Plano, Allen, Richardson and Dallas in.
