Food, games, music, a fire truck, a bounce house, face painting and henna tattoos will be among the features at Harmony Carnival, a free event Oct. 25 hosted by local nonprofit The Austin Harmony Project.
Admittance is free, and tickets will be sold for $1 each, with games costing between $1 and $2 each. Attendees can also participate in a cake walk and a raffle to help support the organization, which is based in Southwest Austin and aims to enrich the lives of adults with developmental disabilities through art, music and community, Executive Director Tressie Seegers said.
"We are hoping that all the kids in the community will come, and also we are hoping that the disability community will come," she said. "It's just our way of giving back ... and having a fun event for the community because the community has been so supportive."
The carnival will occupy Harmony's parking lot at 1806 W. Stassney Lane, so attendees can park next door at the Austin Community College campus. More information is available at www.theaustinharmonyproject.org.
