The Austin ISD board of trustees has moved the deadline for applications for district superintendent from Sept. 22 to Oct. 20.
The board plans to discuss its ongoing search for a new superintendent at a Sept. 8 board dialogue and is scheduled to hold its regular board meeting on Sept 22.
Trustees approved the new application deadline with a unanimous vote Aug. 26, extending it by nearly one month.
Gary Ray, president of Ray & Associates, the search firm AISD hired to help recruit candidates for the position, said that changing the deadline to Oct. 20 means the board will be on track to hire a finalist Jan. 8.
