Texas Rep. Brandon Creighton, R-Conroe, will be the newest senator in the Texas Senate, after winning the Aug. 5 runoff special election by a margin of 7,846 votes over Rep. Steve Toth, R-The Woodlands, according to unofficial results.

Creighton received 15,215 votes, totaling about 67.4 percent of the vote, beating out Toth, who received 7,369, about 32.6 percent. All results are unofficial until canvased.

Creighton, who has a background in business and law, is serving his third consecutive term in the Texas House of Representatives.

Creighton and Toth were two of four candidates vying for the position during the May 10 election, which resulted in the Aug. 5 runoff. The other candidates included Woodlands Township Director Gordy Bunch and former senator Michael Galloway.

Creighton will be filling the unexpired term of former state Sen. Tommy Williams, R-The Woodlands, who resigned from the seat for the 2015 session. Williams was first elected to the Senate District 4 seat in November 2002, and was re-elected in 2004, 2008, and 2012.

The unexpired term runs through 2016.

Texas Rep. Brandon Creighton (R–16) leads the state Senate District 4 special election runoff with about 69.8 percent of the early votes that have been reported, according to unofficial results.

Creighton received 10,233 early votes, leading opponent and current Texas rep. Steve Toth (R–15), who received 4,413 early votes, results show. All results are unofficial until canvassed.

Creighton, who has a background in business and law, is currently serving his third consecutive term in the Texas House of Representatives. Toth owns and operates two swimming pool companies and is also serving in the Texas House of Representatives.

The winner will fill the unexpired term of former senator Tommy Williams, which is scheduled to run through 2016.
