The sixth Kroger Marketplace in the Houston area is set to open at 8 a.m. Aug. 1 in Towne Lake at 9703 Barker Cypress Road with several new store features in place and more than 120,000 square feet of shopping space.
"This store is a reflection of the growing families and new households in the area," public relations manager Kristal Howard said. "Every pocket of our region is experiencing a surge of growth that is not stopping."
In addition to the traditional store features such as a deli, bakery, meat and seafood department, produce section and pharmacy, the new store is the second in the greater Houston area to offer apparel and shoes. Customers will be able to find men's, women's and children's clothing along with fine jewelry by Fred Meyer Jewelers such as watches, necklaces and diamonds.
The store also includes a Murray's Cheese shop, which features 175 types of cheese from around the world and 300 specialty food items such as cured meats, crackers, dried fruit and antipasti bars.
"This is a destination for that person who is passionate about food," Howard said. "We want you to experience something different and go beyond what you would normally try."
One newer feature at the store can be found in the wine aisles where shoppers will be able to sample new wines and products from the department, which boasts more than 1,300 wine labels from around the world. Craft beer from Houston and Texas breweries is available as well, including Rahr and Sons, No Label, Saint Arnold's, Karbach and Southern Star.
Additionally, the store features a large variety of healthy living items such as vitamins, supplements, probiotics, fitness bars and natural and certified organic food and products.
"There was a time when you would have to go to a specialty grocery or health foods store, but now [these items] are on the shelf where you do all your shopping," Howard said.
The store also carries bed, bath and home furnishings, baby items and kitchen appliances and cookware. The new store will be open daily from 6 a.m.–1 a.m.
