Construction will come to an end soon near Davis and Brodie Lane, but first Deer Lane will close until the end of August.

Starting July 19, Deer Lane will close from Ampezo Trail to Brodie Lane. All east bound traffic on Davis Lane, which becomes Deer Lane, will be redirected through Iriona Bend and Coastal Drive, said representative for City of Austin Public Works Department Susan Garnett.

"[After construction ends] you can drive straight through Deer Lane all the way through, cross Brodie and go to Davis Lane. That's going to eliminate a lot of traffic build up from the neighborhood through there," Garnett said.

The route will return to normal at the end of August, just in time for school, and those that use the roads there will notice ease in traffic, Garnett said.

"This is going to be a major improvement in the area as far as traffic goes. Especially as we're gearing up for school to start. That's going to be perfect timing," Garnett said.

The construction is part of the Davis/Deer Lane realignment project.

A bicycle lane will also be added to the area to encourage alternative modes of transportation, according to a news release.
