Tomball Regional Medical Center has named a new chief executive officer to replace Bud Wethington, who is leaving Tomball to accept a job as CEO of College Station Medical Center.

Tom Jackson, who has served as CEO of CSMC for the last 17 years, will swap campuses with Wethington and assume his new role as CEO of TRMC later this summer, TRMC Marketing Director Kris Muller said.

Jackson brings more than 20 years of operational experience to TRMC. In his time at CSMC, he helped transform the hospital into a full-service facility, among other accomplishments, she said.

"Under his tenure, Jackson oversaw two major facility expansions, opened the area's only level III [neonatal intensive care unit], developing an integrated medical campus with Texas A&M University Health Science Center and introduced robotic surgery," Muller said. "His work also enhanced cardiovascular services at the hospital, leading to the achievement of Chest Pain Center accreditation."

Wethington has served as CEO for TRMC since February 2012 and will assume his new role at CSMC in mid-July, Muller said. While at the helm of TRMC, Wethington oversaw the recruitment of new physicians to the medical staff, opened a new outpatient imaging center, announced plans to expand the emergency department by 3,100 square feet and introduced a robotic surgery program, she said.

"We appreciate [Wethington's] many contributions to growing the services we provide and the area we serve," Muller said. "The hospital's commitment to quality under his leadership was recognized with the achievement of a three-year certification from The Joint Commission."
