Vidette Forbes has "hit the ground running" since she joined Reliant Austin Medical Rehabilitation Hospital as CEO in April, she said.

The 60-bed inpatient facility provides intensive physical, occupational and speech therapy for patients who have had strokes or have respiratory or other conditions. Forbes said most patients are older than 55, so Reliant is always exploring ways to engage seniors. This summer the hospital launches safe medication management classes at its senior activity centers, she said.

"Our primary goal is to optimize patient well-being while in our care with the goal that at the time of discharge, patients' quality of life is higher than upon their admission," Forbes said.
