The Harris County Toll Road Authority announced lane closures on Hwy. 249 for the morning of June 22 as part of construction on the Tomball Tollway.

The existing northbound and southbound main lanes of Hwy. 249 will be closed from Spring Cypress Road to just south of Northpointe Boulevard, where the main lanes end, HCTRA spokesman Adam Collett said. The closure will take place from 4 a.m. to 10 a.m. on June 22.

"This closure will allow for the installation of a sign bridge structure for the Tomball Tollway project," Collett said. "A sign bridge is a structure that spans part or all of a roadway and allows signs to be affixed."

Traffic traveling northbound on Hwy. 249 will be required to exit at Spring Cypress Road to continue north on the feeder road. Southbound traffic will be able to enter the main lanes of Hwy. 249 just south of the Spring Cypress Road intersection, he said. There will be law enforcement personnel on site to direct traffic.

Lane closures on Hwy. 249 as a result of construction on the Tomball Tollway have been fewer compared to other road projects, as most of the construction occurs in the median between the existing service roads, Collett said.

All road closures will be posted at www.hctra.org. Closures are subject to change due to weather, emergency work or other events. For the most current information regarding scheduled lane closures, visit www.houstontranstar.org.
