A new rehabilitation and long-term acute care hospital will open in Kyle this summer.

Warm Springs Rehabilitation Hospital of Kyle, a 40-bed, 54,000-square-foot facility at 5980 Kyle Parkway, is slated to open in August, said Anne Leon, senior vice president of network development for Post Acute Medical, the company that will jointly operate the facility with Seton Healthcare.

"We have been extremely welcomed in [the Kyle] market," Leon said, adding that the advancement of medical space in Kyle and Hays County over the past several years has generated "excitement" among the community. "I think people who live in Kyle are really excited their hometown community is really being developed and looked at."

The amount of medical square footage in the city has doubled since 2010, city officials said. In 2010, 400,000 square feet of medical facilities existed in the city, and Seton Hays Medical Center comprised most of that. Now there is more than 800,000 square feet, with Seton Hays representing less than 40 percent of that figure.

Warm Springs will provide rehab programs specializing in stroke, neurological disorders, brain injuries, major trauma, spinal cord injuries and amputations, among other medical care.

The two-story building occupies 3.2 acres of land and will be completed by the end of June, Leon said.

Leon said news of the hospital's upcoming opening has been well-received by the Kyle community.

"People are really looking forward to having local care as opposed to traveling up to Austin or San Antonio," she said.
