The Greater Houston Partnership launched a new campaign June 3 in an effort to improve the perception of Houston's image and attract top talent to the local workforce.

In the past 14 months, the campaign—headed by Jamey Rootes, president of the Houston Texans and GHP board member—compiled market research, citywide survey results, focus group sessions and interviews to help highlight the city's cultural offerings, dining and retail scene, public green spaces, and business environment, Rootes said.

"Houston is a vibrant, diverse and welcoming community with an amazing array of entertainment and cultural amenities that make it a fun place to visit, raise a family and call home," he said. "This communitywide effort will allow us to tell the full story of Houston as a great American and global city that we know it to be."

The "Houston: The City With No Limits" campaign is directed at attracting a new population of young professionals to the Houston region. Although the city is gaining national recognition as a good place to do business, there are misconceptions about living in Houston, Rootes said.

"We need to change the conversation about Houston as a great place, not only to do business, but to live," he said. "We have a lot to offer."

The campaign, which is expected to roll out over several years, builds on an ongoing GHP initiative—"Opportunity Houston 2.0"—that was established in late 2012 to attract trade and capital investment, and help attract and retain businesses throughout the city.

Campaign content will be shared via local television stations, online, outdoor and print advertising through the fall at which time promotion efforts will be extended nationally, said Cindy Marion, president and CEO of MMI Agency—a Houston-based public relations firm that helped conduct market and brand research for the campaign.

A GHP task force led by Rootes participated with several partners to develop the campaign, including the Houston Mayor's office, the Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau, Houston First, local chambers of commerce, community leaders and a handful of corporations and agencies.

"This has been an exciting, collaborative effort involving numerous community partners," said Bob Harvey, president and CEO of GHP. "This campaign encapsulates everything that makes our region limitless."
