Dr. Janey Thornton, U.S. Department of Agriculture deputy undersecretary for Food, Nutrition and Consumer Services, visited an Austin area food bank May 1.

The undersecretary toured the Capital Area Food Bank. CAFB President/CEO Hank Perret welcomed Thornton and gave her a tour of the facility. He also showed her a specially designed bus used to help residents sign up for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Programs, or SNAP.

Thornton also visited El Buen Samaritano Food Pantry on Woodhue Drive.
