Hutto Area Chamber of Commerce President Tom Britton submitted his resignation to the chamber's board of directors, according to an April 22 news release.
The board accepted Britton's resignation and has begun searching for a new president. Britton headed the chamber for five years.
"During [Britton's] presidency, chamber membership grew substantially, Leadership Hutto was launched and new events and programs were implemented to further strengthen Hutto businesses," according to the news release.
Chamber chairwoman Cathy Teague declined to comment on Britton's departure ahead of the chamber's next meeting on April 29.
