St. David's Foundation is hosting a series of events this spring to raise funds for students in Central Texas to pursue careers in health care.

"Toast of the Town" takes place from April 11–May 18 and includes events such as an acoustic concert by country music singer Jack Ingram, a dinner with the University of Texas President Bill Powers and a cocktail party with actor Kyle Chandler, who is known for his roles in films and TV shows such as "Wolf on Wall Street," "Friday Night Lights" and "Argo."

Proceeds from the events are matched two-to-one by the St. David's Foundation and will go toward a scholarship fund dedicated in memory of Neal Kocurek, the former CEO of the foundation. In 2013, "Toast of the Town" raised about $1.1 million for the Kocurek scholarship, which benefits high school graduates pursuing health care careers at colleges in Bastrop, Caldwell, Hays, Travis and Williamson counties.

"Toast of the Town" also includes a sneak peak of the Austin Food & Wine Festival with a gourmet dinner prepared by Chef David Bull from Second Bar + Kitchen in downtown Austin. For a complete list of events, visit www.stdavidsfoundation.org/toast-of-the-town/overview.

St. David's Foundation is expected to invest $50 million in health initiatives for research, education, healthy living, grants to mental health agencies, safety net clinics, St. David's Dental Program and scholarships, according to the foundation.
