The Hutto Family YMCA opened the doors of its new 35,000-square-foot facility Jan. 15.
Funding for the facility was made possible by a $5 million voter-approved bond as well as donations from the city of Hutto, the YMCA of Greater Williamson County and various community members.
The facility's amenities include a gym with exercise machines and free weights, children's playscapes, a natatorium with children's and adult areas, a recreation center for teens, a theater room with workout equipment for members to use while watching movies, and a classroom for spinning workouts.
Membership at the new facility has already exceeded expectations, Branch Manager Lisa Koen said. As of mid-March the Hutto YMCA had already sold 1,700 memberships—exceeding its budgeted goal by 800.
