Lakeway Mayor Dave DeOme extended the city's burn ban Feb. 21 that prohibits outdoor burning in the city through March 22.

The Travis County Commissioners Court also extended the countywide burn ban through March 19 unless further action is taken by the court or the fire marshal.

Barbecuing in city and county parks is allowed as long as the fire is within a closable container or a container with a lid with a nearby water source.

The ban does not affect a prescribed burn under the supervision of a prescription burn manager. It also does not affect outdoor hot work when done under the guidelines established by the Travis County Fire Marshal's office.
