Family Farm Health has helped area residents balance their mind, body and soul through holistic approaches and natural health products for 36 years.

Owners Cathy Kilgore and Kathy Norris believe in strengthening the body through nutrition and therapies, such as sound therapy, iridology, foot reflexology and acupuncture, all offered at Family Farm Health off Business 249.

Kilgore and Norris help clients with their health, including those who are out of balance because of such triggers as stress, anger, grief or illness.

"Sound therapy can help bring that person back in a state of well being and balance," said Kilgore, who has been a certified sound therapist for 15 years.

Kilgore and Norris said they are firm believers in living a holistic life.

"We believe in strengthening the body through nutrition, helping the body without side effects," said Norris, a certified iridologist.

They said they believe in blending Western medicine with holistic approaches and have many customers who have serious illnesses and come to them for additional support and therapy.

"We see both sides and the benefits of both," Kilgore said. "It's about helping people be well. People want alternatives for themselves and their children. And people are living longer, and they want to feel good."

Family Farm Health has many clients who are dealing with severe medical illnesses, such as cancer and diabetes.

"We do whatever we can to help," Kilgore said. "We can help supplement the treatment they're getting from their doctor."

Norris, Kilgore and their staff offer help to customers as much as possible. They thoroughly research products to ensure they are the healthiest for their customers, and they study medicine to learn what holistic products should not be mixed with Western medication.

They also offer a free class to teach their customers about different herbs and vitamins and, for a fee, they offer individual nutrition counseling.

"We really believe what sets us apart is our belief in educating customers," Kilgore said.

Kilgore, who previously worked in retail management and human resource leadership for more than 25 years, has begun offering wellness classes to small and mid-size businesses.

"The classes teach wellness and the simple things people can do to stay healthy and well," Kilgore said.

In addition to the services, Family Farm Health offers herbs, supplements, vitamins, essential oils, skin and body products, gluten-free products, cooking items, protein shakes, snacks and gift items. The business was a finalist last year for the Tomball Chamber of Commerce's small business of the year.

Family Farm Health, a family-run business, started in Tomball at a location near Hooks Airport and has moved several times for larger space. The business, owned by Kilgore and Norris for the last 13 years, moved in June to its current location, doubling its square footage.

Kilgore and Norris said they are pleased by the positive response they often hear from clients. One customer had severe depression and was taking medications. She went through iridology and started using essential oils and felt better quickly.

"Within minutes I could see her change," Norris said. "Her eyes got bright, and she was more alert. She said she really felt different. She stopped taking medications. It changed her life."
