The Round Rock Sports Center was officially unveiled to the public at a grand opening ceremony Jan. 28.

The 82,500-square-foot, $14.5 million facility was funded primarily through the city's voter-approved hotel occupancy tax. The facility's features include space for six basketball courts or 12 volleyball courts, a total capacity for up to 3,000 spectators, 502 parking spots, consession stands and multipurpose rooms. The building has the ability to be converted to host a variety of sporting events, conventions, expositions and concerts.

"Having a state-of-the-art indoor venue will help us continue to attract tourism dollars to our city," Round Rock Mayor Alan McGraw said. "It's really a special amenity available to people that live right here in the community."
