Officials are hoping to have a makeover of the Rabb Park area completed by the summer.
The park, which includes the Play For All Abilities Park and the Rabb House, is undergoing renovations to improve its facilities and add new trail access.
"[The improvement] is really going to open it up as a tremendous recreation corridor," said Rick Atkins, Round Rock Parks and Recreation Department director.
In February, the city closed the Play For All Abilities Park for one week to conduct minor maintenance and upkeep.
Atkins said construction crews are also rebuilding the Rabb House—a multiuse facility the city plans to rent out for concerts, weddings and events. The former Rabb House structure was severely damaged by flooding in 2010. The new facility features an open-air pavilion on the bottom floor and a meeting/events room on the second floor with a balcony overlooking Brushy Creek. The facility is expected to be ready for use by May 1, Atkins said.
The city also hopes to complete a new trail section that will tie the park to the city's other trails sometime this summer.
