After relocating from the Kingwood area to Spring in May, owner Claudia Posada and her associate, Lisa Cardenas, are continuing to build a new client base for family-owned Angels Divine Flowers.
The shop was in the Kingwood/FM 1960 area for about eight years and built a strong group of customers based on its attention to customer service and knowledge of the floral business, Cardenas said.
Posada moved the business to Spring to be closer to her home in The Woodlands. Now, Cardenas said, it is a matter of establishing new customers.
"November was a little slow, and business was better in December," she said. "We're hoping for a really good February."
Cardenas said the shop receives its popular brand of long stem roses direct from its supplier in Columbia, whereas most florists have to wait for the flowers to be shipped to Miami, then their individual stores.
"[The roses] last a long time, and people really like them," she said.
Posada is a fourth-generation florist, with her family having run successful floral shops in El Salvador and Hilton Head, S.C. Her shop offers the standard fare for florists: weddings, funerals, personal deliveries and gifts. Cardenas said it also offers gourmet baskets and candy bouquets.
This year, Posada is expanding the business by hiring an events coordinator, Andrea Canales, to help plan weddings and parties.
