Filing for places 1 and 4 on Hutto City Council opens Jan. 29 and ends Feb. 28, with the election to be held May 10.
Place 1 is currently occupied by Councilwoman Anne Cano. Cano, who was first elected in 2009 and re-elected in 2011, said she plans to file to keep her spot on the council.
"I feel like the council we have now is accomplishing a lot, and I want to continue to be a part of it," she said.
Councilman Michael J. Smith, who currently holds Place 4, also stated he will run for re-election in May. Smith was first elected to the council in 2009 and re-elected in 2011.
"We've got a great momentum right now, and 2014 is going to be a big year of change and growth in Hutto," Smith said. "I want to continue to be a part of that momentum."
