Some Cedar Park and Leander residents will need to follow slightly different schedules for setting out their blue and green containers during the holidays, city officials said Dec. 20.
Both cities will have one-day delays in trash and recycling pickup Dec. 25–27 and Jan. 1–3. Cedar Park and Leander residents with collections on Wednesdays will have their containers picked up Thursday. Thursday pickup times are moved to Friday, and Friday pickup times are moved to Saturday.
Homes with trash and recycling pickup on Monday and Tuesday will have no change in schedule, city staff said.

City offices and public libraries in Cedar Park and Leander are closed Dec. 24–25 and on Jan. 1.
Leander's tree-recycling effort begins Dec. 26 and continues through Jan. 13. From 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day, anyone can bring used, live trees free of decorations to the Robin Bledsoe Park parking lot at 601 S. Bagdad Road, Leander. Cedar Park offers its tree-recycling on Jan. 4. Individuals who donate used, organic holiday trees without decorations can receive a free seedling while supplies last. From 9 a.m.–noon anyone can bring trees to the Cedar Park Parks and Recreation Center, 1435 Main St., Cedar Park. For more information, call 512-401-5500 or visit the city's website. Members of Boy Scout Troop 233 also provide free pickup of trees for those who make reservations on the troop's website.
